Welcome to the MBYC application portal. Here you will find all of our course offerings for the 2025 summer season. We welcome any and all people to come and develop a passion for this sport, hobby and pass time. We teach via Sail Canada’s CANSail program. It is a national training program designed to promote a progressive learning of sailing skills, knowledge and technique across most of all boat classes and platforms. It is centred around safe, fun and active on water learning with a small amount of on shore instruction.
If you have any questions please contact the Head Coach or Youth Sailing Coordinator.
9:00 AM to 3:30 PM
Provides an active start to sailing focused on fun, safe activities on and around the water. This course is taught in one of the most well known sail boats around the world, a small dinghy called an "Optimist". This course is recommended for new sailors who are approximately under 110 lbs. If your child is fairly tall, or over the age of 12, the CANSail 1/2 course in the larger sail boats may be a better fit, regardless of weight. On the first day of class, we will make any necessary changes to the class enrolment.

Similar to the Opti Basic course, if your child is fairly tall, or over the age of 12, the CANSail 1/2 course offered in the larger sail boats may be a better fit, regardless of weight.

A fundamental course covering skills such as basic sheeting, steering, and boat handling and points of sail. 420s are a two crew boat and exactly 420 cm long with more complex rigging.
